Ledi Sadow in Rangoon Ahuja 438 (Ledi Sayadaw)

1846-1923 He revived the practice of vipassana and encouraged Buddhists to give up eating beef, on holy and ecological grounds. He was based at the Ledi monastery in Monywa but later moved to caves on the Vhindwin. He was highly respected for his learning, and wrote many books for the expert and layman alike.
